Accurate Testing Can Bring Peace of Mind
If you think you might be pregnant, waiting for confirmation can feel stressful and consuming. You may be watching symptoms closely, counting days, or wondering if you tested too early. When your pregnancy is unplanned, that uncertainty can feel even heavier.
At Harbour Health, we offer free and confidential medical-grade pregnancy testing to help you get clear answers. Our staff provides a supportive environment where you won’t feel judged or rushed.
Whether you feel scared, hopeful, or a mix of emotions, you deserve accurate information.
How Pregnancy Testing Works
Pregnancy tests detect a hormone called hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). Your body begins producing hCG after a fertilized egg implants in the uterus.
Because hCG increases over time, testing too early can sometimes lead to a false negative.
When Should You Take a Pregnancy Test?
Symptoms can vary, but for the most accurate result, testing after your missed period is recommended.
If your test is negative but you still believe you could be pregnant, your hormone levels may not be high enough yet. Retesting a few days later may provide a clearer answer.
Symptoms may include:
- Missed period
- Nausea
- Fatigue
- Tender breasts
- Mood changes
- Frequent urination
What Happens After Your Test?
After testing, a staff member will review your results privately and answer any questions. If your test is positive, you may qualify for a limited OB ultrasound, which provides more information about your pregnancy and helps confirm important details.
If you already have pregnancy confirmation from another provider, you do not need to repeat testing before receiving an ultrasound.
You Deserve Support, Not Pressure
A positive test can bring many emotions. Harbour Health provides a calm space where you can talk with an advocate and explore next steps at your pace.
